Here are the top stories today in Essex-Chester-Deep River:

  1. Trout season is all year long now in Connecticut. Last year the Connecticut General Assembly passed a new law that removed any closed season for trout, which means that year-round residents can fish for trout. And, to make things even better for anglers in the Nutmeg State, the DEEP is currently out stocking 500,000 Rainbow, Brown, Brook and Tiger trout in lakes, ponds, rivers and streams throughout the state. (FOX61 Hartford)
  2. Are electric school buses the way of the future? They might be in Connecticut. North Haven got the first big electric school bus in the state. It can fit up to 71 passengers. “The electric school bus is the first step in the transition to electric vehicles and safer for the environment and our students and communities," said Rosemarie Arma, director of ACES transportation. (FOX61 Hartford)
  3. You know its spring in Chester when the 65-foot diesel-run Selden III ferry leaves the dock for its traditional five-minute cruise across the Connecticut River to the shore of Hadlyme. This year's maiden voyage will be accompanied by a special event to be held on April 2 to commemorate the opening of the ferry season. (Middletown Press)
