- Due to the lack of substantial rain and the summer drought conditions, the town of Essex has some tips for conserving water; "never use your toilet as a wastebasket, do not let the water run while shaving or brushing teeth, take short showers instead of tub baths, turn off the water flow while soaping or shampooing, if you must use a tub, close the drain before turning on the water and fill the tub only half full, bathe small children together and never pour water down the drain when there may be another use for it - such as watering a plant or garden."(Town Essex via Facebook)
- Connecticut taxpayers have less than a week to apply for a one-time rebate offering eligible low and middle-income households $250 per child for up to three children before an application window closes at the end of July. As of Friday, more than 171,500 households including more than 268,000 children had applied for the rebate since the state began accepting applications on June 1, according to the Revenue Services Department.
