CHESTER, CT — Environmental tip from the Conservation Commission:
"As we look forward to a time when the wearing of masks in Chester will be less universal, we can contemplate what to do with the ones we still have. The first important thing is to dispose of them responsibly. Masks and gloves have been turning up in large numbers in trash collected on our streets and beaches where they pose a danger to wildlife. Also if you throw then away, cut the strings meant to hold them on. You might think of some creative ways to use the washable material ones. An article in the Wall Street Journal suggested doll clothes or chin rests for violins, or patches for jeans and other clothes. Some people have actually made skirts and other clothes or mobiles out of them. The N.Y. Historical Society has been collecting them to use in a future exhibit on the pandemic."
