  1. Dont forget to mark your calendars for the Region 4 Education Foundation, Inc special community fundraising 5k running event to be held on March 18. This road race has replaced the former Jingle Bell Run. Chip timing will done by Rat Race Time on a certified course. The race will kick off at 10 a.m. Packet pick-up will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Essex Town Hall. Sign up at runsignup.com/Race/CT/Essex/CatchALeprechaun5k. (Chester Chat via Facebook)
  2. Congratulations to Vicky Dickinson who is the recipient of the 2nd Annual Scandinavian United Society of Deep River Spotlight Award. In a Facebook post, the Society wrote, “this woman has been a staple here at the club for many years. She has and always will put the club and its members first. She has tended bar and helped with events. Her endless behind-the-scenes work keeps this place running. She is a true “Swede” and her license plate (Skol3) says it all." Congratulations Vicky! (Scandinavian United Society of Deep River via Facebook)
  3. It’s possible you may see worms wiggling out of the ground as the March full moon reaches peak illumination at 7:42 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, in Connecticut. According to an article written by Patch staffer Rich Kirby, the last full moon of winter — known as the full worm moon — isn’t a supermoon, but will look bigger when it’s near the horizon because of what’s called the “moon illusion.” That makes it look larger when compared with other objects than it does when it’s high in the sky. The best time to see that effect is around moonrise on Monday. That’s around 4:59 p.m. The moon will look spectacularly bright all night, weather permitting. (Patch)
