A Winning Team Of Two; Deep River Horse And Rider

Local horse and rider win big at USHJA Jumpseat National Medals in Maryland in early October.

DEEP RIVER, CT — It's all about standing out in the herd and this horse and rider team do just that. Recently, Valley Regional High School junior, Addison Keyworth and her horse Liam (a Dutch Warmblood) took home third-place at the USHJA Jumpseat National Medal Finals In Maryland, early in October.

After placing first, in the first phase of the competition and third in the second phase, Keyworth and Liam finished third overall, competing against 153 junior riders, from all over the country, who qualified for the competitive championship, which was held at Prince George Equestrian Center.

A Deep River native, Keyworth has been in the saddle since she was just six years old. She began riding with her current trainer, (Jill Curtiss, owner of Larimar Stables in Deep River) when she was nine. For the past four years, Keyworth and Liam have been working hard together, challenging one another and pushing each other to greatness.

"This feels like a lot of hard work paid off," said Keyworth, in an interview at the Medal Finals. "This class has been a goal. [This has been] a great experience with my horse!"

Keyworth added, "Liam is my best friend, my sidekick; he is my everything."
