- It's the last day of February and the first real snowfall of winter in the area! Region 4 Schools were canceled last night and the kids are all home for the first snow day of 2023! Some are happy that the white stuff has finally made itself seen and others, well, not so happy, but, this is winter in New England. The forecast is calling for five to seven inches of snow in Southern Connecticut, with a rain mixture at the immediate coast. The snow is expected to continue through much of the day. So, stay warm and enjoy! (Watch the WFSB 3 TV weather forecast here.)
- Congratulations to Valley Regional High School Senior Brayden Shea for being selected as Valley Courier's Athlete of The Week. The basketball team forward is currently in the throws of the winter season and looking forward to springtime and baseball. He plays right fielder for that team. Immersed in sports from a young age, Brayen told Zip06.com, '"Being a student-athlete can be tolling, but having great teammates and coaches to motivate you daily to do better is great. Having basketball right before baseball helps me get physically invested, with basketball involving a lot of cardio. Mentally, it also keeps me focused with success carrying into each season."' Good luck Brayden! (Zip06.com)
