Closed For Refurb, Granby Library Slated To Reopen Next Week
The Town of Granby is modernizing and renovating the Granby Public Library at 154 Granby Road.

GRANBY, CT — The Granby Public Library is closed right now, but when it reopens next week, it will be an aesthetically and functionally updated facility taking the site into 2025.
Wednesday, the library posted images of workers tearing up the carpet as part of the renovation, indicating it will be closed through Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Meanwhile, painting is expected to begin on Thursday, Jan. 9, according to the library.

The Town of Granby, Connecticut is renovating and modernizing the main library building located at 15N Granby Road, Granby,
"This project aims to enhance the facility’s functionality, aesthetics, and safety to better serve
the community’s needs," wrote the town earlier this year in a request for proposals document on the project.

According to the RFP, among the changes expected by library users next week are:
• Removal of carpets in the library’s adult area, teen area, one study room and adult staff offices
• Installation of commercial-grade carpet tile in library adult, teen, and study areas.
• Installation of laminate flooring around the adult circulation desk and adult services offices.
• Removal of wallpaper from the adult library area, one study room, and staff offices.
• Paint walls in the adult area, study room, and staff offices with commercial-grade paint.
• Remove and replace all light switches and outlet covers.
