East Granby Capital Projects Go To Town Meeting Vote Thursday Night
East Granby voters will decide the fate of a number of capital projects requested by the town's boards of education and selectmen Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

A special town meeting in East Granby will be held Thursday evening to consider a number of capital requests previously approved by the East Granby Boards of Selectmen, Education and Finance.
The meeting, scheduled to occur at East Granby Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, will include votes on two projects requested by the board of selectmen, one requested by the board of education and a joint request by both boards.
The selectmen are requesting funds to replace the dump body of a town dump truck to extend its operational life at cost not to exceed $25,000 and funds to begin the town’s real estate and personal property revaluation required by the state at a cost not to exceed $35,000. The board of education is requesting funds to repair down spouts and drains at Allgrove School at a cost not to exceed $15,000. The two boards are jointly requesting $22,700 for the Municipal Inter-local Risk Management Agency’s (MIRMA) workman’s compensation insurance assessment.

The projects are not new appropriations but the town meeting vote is a necessary part of the town’s fund access process. East Granby voters previously approved the town’s financial year 2012-2013 budget at a referendum in May 2012.
East Granby’s legislative body is the town meeting. Such meetings are held throughout each fiscal year to approve individual capital projects proposed by town boards each year.
