Many Towns Join Forces In Household Hazardous Waste Initiative
A regional collection of household waste starts later this month for Canton, Avon, Farmington, Granby and Simsbury.
FARMINGTON/CANTON/AVON//SIMSBURY/GRANBY, CT — A regional, multi-town effort to help property owners safely disposeof their household hazardous waste starts up later this month.
The towns of Canton, Avon, Farmington, Granby and Simsbury will be holding three household hazardous waste collections in 2023, local officials said recently.
Canton officials remind residents there that Canton no longer participates with Metropolitan District collection events and Canton residents can no longer bring their household waste to any of the MDC household hazardous waste collections.

Each collection in this effort will run from 8 a.m. to 1 pm. The collection schedule is as follows:
• Saturday, March 25 — Farmington High School, 10 Monteith Drive, Farmington.

• Saturday, June 10 – Simsbury Public Works Facility, 66 Town Forest Road, Simsbury,
• Saturday, Oct. 7 – Simsbury Public Works Facility, 66 Town Forest Road, Simsbury.
At each collection, electronics recycling (e-waste with freon will not be accepted)and paper shredding will also take place.
