What To Do In Granby This Saturday: Homecoming, Breast Cancer Fundraiser, Fire Department Open House

Homecoming, a breast cancer awareness fundraiser, an open house at the Lost Acres Fire Department and more are all happening today.

  • Lost Acres Fire Department Open House: The Lost Acres Fire Department is hosting an open house at its center station (206 Salmon Brook Street) on Sat, Oct. 20 from noon to 2 p.m. Engines and trucks will be on display, firefighters will speak with visitors and a controlled burn of a couch will be performed, along with other attractions.

This year’s Homecoming promises to deliver the same level of exciting match ups as last year, as boys football takes on cross-town rival Avon at Ahrens Park, field hockey hosts top-notch Guilford at GMHS, and boys and girls soccer face conference foe Ellington Saturday evening under the lights at the school. The soccer under the lights event, now in its eighth year, will have the girls kicking off at 6 p.m. and the boys at 8 p.m. in matches that promise to deliver fast, physical play.

  • Breast Cancer Awareness and Research Fundraiser presented by Studio 17 and Anew Massage and Wellness: These two new Granby businesses are offering the chance to be pampered for a great cause. Pink shellac nail treatments and chair massages are being offered with all proceeds benefiting the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative. Visit Studio 17's location at 17 Hartford Ave. on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to participate. Find out more about the event here.
