3 More Cars Reported Stolen in Greenwich
More than $20,000 worth of car rims and tires also were stolen in another rash of thefts that Greenwich Police are investigating.

The rash of thefts of motor vehicles and thefts from parked cars is continuing in Greenwich as evidenced by a series of reports received by Greenwich Police.
The thefts were reported between Dec. 5 and Dec. 9 and in two cases, the car owners left the keys inside their unlocked vehicles parked in their driveways, according to police.

A locked 1998 Honda Civic was reported stolen from Byram Road on Dec. 5. On Dec. 8, a Carriglea Drive resident reported that their 2012 Land Rover was stolen sometime overnight from the driveway of the home in Riverside. A 2014 Audi also was reported stolen on Dec. 8 from an Otter Rock Drive home in the Belle Haven neighborhood of town.
It was about 7:40 a.m. Dec. 7 that Lexus of Greenwich reported four sets of rims and tires were stolen from 2015 and 2016 Lexus vehicles that were parked inside a fenced in area of the 10 Old Track Rd. dealership, according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray.

“The vehicles were jacked up and put on construction materials. The wheels and tires were taken. The lug nuts for all of the wheels were left on the ground,” Gray said. Each set of wheels was valued $5,600.
Early Wednesday morning, a resident of Steamboat Road discovered that someone broke into their unlocked car. “The resident left a suitcase in their Ford Explorer the night before and in the morning, found both doors of the vehicle open and the suitcase at the end of the driveway,” Gray said. It was unclear whether anything was missing from the suitcase.
Gray said another nearby vehicle, a Kia also had been entered by thieves. “The glove box and console were rifled.” It’s not immediately know what was taken from that car.
“Please, please, please, don’t leave the keys inside your vehicle and unlocked,” Gray said.
The thefts are the latest in a continuing string around Greenwich.
