With Car Stuck on a Curb, Greenwich Driver Arrested for DWI

Greenwich Police say the driver was standing outside his car that was still running, 'in drive' when they found him shortly after midnight.

A Greenwich motorist was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge by Greenwich Police investigating reports of an erratic driver on North Street.

It was about 12:15 a.m. Dec. 13 when police arrested the 54-year-old driver whose car “mounted the curb and became stuck” on North Street, near Mavis Lane, according to a police report.

“The vehicle was running, still in drive and the operator was standing next to the open door of the vehicle,” according to the report.

The driver, identified as Mark C. Libak of 1 Meadowcroft Rd., Greenwich, had an odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath and failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.

Police also cited Libak for unsafe movement. He was unable to post a $250 bond and was scheduled to appear Dec. 28 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
