Driver Sleeping at a Green Light Faces DWI Charge in Greenwich

It was 4:45 a.m. when an officer spotted the car stopped in Cos Cob.

A car stopped at a green light on East Putnam Avenue in Cos Cob at 4:45 a.m. caught the attention of a Greenwich Police officer.

The officer checked on the driver and found the man was asleep with “the vehicle’s transmission in drive and his foot on the brake pedal,” according to a police report.

It was 4:45 a.m. Dec. 18 on East Putnam at the intersection of River Road, according to the report.

Police reported there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the car interior.

The driver, identified as Luis Soto, 24, of Willett Avenue, Port Chester, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, failure to obey a control device and operating without a license. Soto was released after posting a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear Dec. 31 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
