Greenwich Basketball Player First In School History To 1,000 Points
The historic milestone was reached on Dec. 9, according to an announcement from the school. A celebration was held last week.

GREENWICH, CT — Brianna McDermott, an 11th grader at Greenwich Country Day School, is the first-ever GCDS basketball player to reach the 1,000 points scored milestone.
A point guard and tri-captain of the GCDS girls' varsity basketball team, McDermott reached 1,000 points on Dec. 9, 2023, against Proctor Academy.
"Few in the sport get to 1,000 points in a high school career, Bri has done it in a little over two seasons," said head coach Elisa Brown, in a news release. "She is a dominant scorer and shoots successfully from all three levels of scoring. Her long-range three-point jump shot is incredible, and she has an uncanny ability to anticipate two to three plays in advance."

Once construction on The Determination Over Negativity (The DON) Mitchell Family Athletic Center is complete, a banner recognizing 1,000 point-scorers will hang in the gymnasium with McDermott's name at the top.
