Greenwich High School Varsity Cheerleading Team Wins 2025 FCIAC Title

The team captured the FCIAC title for the first time in 21 years.

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich High School varsity cheerleading team won the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC) championship last week for the first time in 21 years.

The Cardinals captured the title over runner-up Danbury and third-place Stamford.

"I’m so proud of this team," said program leader and head coach Julia Vyskocil in a news release. "These athletes are determined, hardworking, passionate and resilient. And when they got on the mat for FCIACs, they trusted each other, trusted their training, trusted the process, and fought their hardest to achieve this amazing goal."

In addition to the team’s win, co-captains Sierra Erensen, Jane Trager, and Siera Rollins were named to the All-FCIAC Team, which honors the top 20 athletes at the competition.

In the previous two seasons, the Cardinals finished in second place but they were finally able to win it all after an impressive performance.

Cheerleading competitions are scored by judges, with the winner receiving the highest score. The GHS Varsity team was a staggering 4.5 points ahead of their nearest competitor, scoring a 96.15 out of 100 to secure FCIAC title.

The cheer season will continue for the team culminating with the state championship scheduled for March 1 at Trumbull High School.
