Greenwich Native To Represent Team USA At 2024 Summer Olympics

Beth Yeager, of Greenwich, is one of a handful of Connecticut residents who will represent Team USA at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

GREENWICH, CT — Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz are congratulating the athletes from Connecticut who have qualified to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games and Paralympic Games in Paris, France.

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games begin July 26, and the 2024 Paralympic Games begin Aug. 28.

Beth Yeager, a Greenwich resident, will represent Team USA on the women's field hockey team at the Summer Olympics.

According to her bio, Yeager currently attends Princeton University. She is a graduate of Sacred Heart Greenwich.

She's been named to three national teams during her athletic career, and has received several Ivy League honors throughout her time at Princeton.

The Team USA women's field hockey team is in Group B. There first match is Saturday, July 27, against Argentina. The full schedule can be found here.

"Qualifying to compete in the Olympics is the pinnacle of an athletic career, and I could not be more proud to have such a group of talented athletes from Connecticut who will be representing Team USA in Paris," Lamont said Friday in a news release, shortly before the opening ceremony was set to begin in Paris.

"To make it to the biggest athletic event in the world takes a lot of dedication, and their commitment to excellence makes them role models for our young athletes," Lamont added. "I want each of them to know that there will be a strong contingent of us back home in Connecticut who will be cheering them on while they compete in Paris."

Bysiewicz said she's excited to watc Connecticut's olympians on the world stage.

"We are so proud to support our state’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes as they proudly represent all of us on their quest for gold in Paris. Along with the governor and the residents of Connecticut, I am wishing them the best of luck and will be cheering them on!" Bysiewicz said.
