Greenwich repeated as state champions and cemented its dynasty run with a convincing win over Southington on Saturday.

GREENWICH, CT — For the 11th time in program history and the third time in the last four years, the Greenwich High School Cardinals are football state champions.

No. 3 Greenwich cemented its dynasty run with a convincing 45-6 victory over No. 4 seeded Southington Saturday night at Veterans Stadium in New Britain to repeat as Class LL champions.

The Cardinals were led by Jack Kelly who scored four touchdowns and contributed to a stout defense that held Southington down until they scored their lone touchdown in the third quarter.

"It feels surreal. We came into this season saying we can't be complacent. We know we've got to earn everything back, and these guys, I'm so proud of every single one of them," Kelly told CIAC Sports after the game. "From the freshmen to the seniors, they worked their tails off every single day. Now we're champions again, baby, and we can say that for the rest of our lives."
