Metro-North Announces 2015-16 Holiday Train Schedules

Extra trains are being added to handle the Christmas and New Year's travel crush.

Metro-North Railroad is planning to take care of travelers — whether commuters or those passing through the region headed over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house, Rockefeller Center or Times Square to celebrate the season.

Here is the schedule for both Christmas and New Year’s:

Early Getaway Service on Christmas Eve: Thursday, Dec. 24: 18 additional early getaway trains (5 on the Hudson Line, 3 on the Harlem Line, and 10 the New Haven Line — depart Grand Central between 12 noon and 4:10 p.m.. See a regular timetable for details.

Christmas Day: Friday, Dec. 25 and New Year’s Day, Saturday, Jan. 1: Hourly service on all lines. See a Holiday timetable for details.

Christmas-New Year’s Week: Monday, Dec. 28 - Wednesday, Dec. 30: During the heaviest travel times (10 a.m. - 2 p.m., there will be longer and extra trains on all lines. See a regular timetable for details.

New Year’s Eve: Thursday, Dec. 31: There will be modified weekday AM and PM Peak service, with an early afternoon getaway schedule; extra inbound late afternoon and early evening service; and “overnight” New Year’s morning service.
