Tommy Mottola Sells His Backcountry Greenwich Mansion: Report

Mottola was instrumental in developing the superstar careers of Mariah Carey, Hall & Oates, Diana Ross and Gloria Estefan, among others.

GREENWICH, CT — Tommy Mottola, the music mogul who was instrumental in the superstar careers of Mariah Carey, Hall & Oates, Diana Ross and others, recently sold his backcountry Greenwich mansion for about $14.9 million, writes The Hour.

The 12,368 square foot home on John Street, which was featured as one of Patch's Wow! Houses in 2017, had been on the market for $17,950,000, as of December of that year, according to realtor.com. The buyer of the property was not disclosed.

When the home was first listed in the spring of 2017, Mottola reportedly had been seeking closer to $20 million, writes The Real Deal. He and his wife, singer Thalia, bought the home in 2010 for $2.85 million and spent an undisclosed amount renovating it.

Resting on 5.7 lake-front acres, the Georgian-Colonial home has nine bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, a pool, guest house, recording studio, six-car garage and a host of upscale elements and finishes.

"The sun drenched formal areas are modern & inviting, the top of the line chef's kitchen lends itself for gracious entertaining," the 2017 listing stated. "The master suite offers the ultimate lifestyle for the discerning and features his-and-her two story dressing rooms."
