The animal control is asking for help with information after two cats were abandoned at a cemetery.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Animal Control is asking for help with finding the owner of two cats that were abandoned at a cemetery in Hamden.

“Two gray cats dumped in carriers at the cemetery located at 90 Pine Rock Ave.,” the animal control wrote in a post on Facebook. “Anyone with information please call 203-230-4080. One crate had a sticker on it that says Dory. All informants will be kept confidential.”

In an update Wednesday morning, animal control officials clarified that both cats were recovered and doing fine.

“Whomever left the cats opened the crate doors,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “These must have been indoor only cats because they were petrified and they both climbed into one crate together. They seem to be very friendly cats, but we will know more about them as they settle in at the shelter. We will be adopting them out at some point, but right now they are on hold. If you might be interested in adoption, keep checking our facebook page and we will put photos up in the coming week. Thank you everyone for sharing.

“A lot of you are asking questions about this. This is an active investigation. We will follow up on all leads. We are a law enforcement agency and this is what we do best.”
