Christmas Tree Disposal Details In Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — The town will begin curbside pickup of Christmas trees on Monday, Jan. 8, according to Public Works Director Joseph Colello.
Trees should be free of all wrappings, lights and decorations. The pickup will be town-wide.
Artificial trees are not included in this pickup.

“All real trees are added to the brush pile at the Hamden Transfer Station and are recycled into woodchips, composting materials, and all other natural landscaping materials,” officials wrote in a news release.
Residents can take their discarded trees, both real and artificial, to the Hamden Transfer Station at 231 Wintergreen Ave. The regular hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m., as well as the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
