Delays Expected For Traffic Work At Busy Intersection In Hamden

Officials are advising motorists of expected delays due to traffic work at a busy intersection in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — Officials are advising motorists of expected delays due to traffic work at a busy intersection in Hamden on Thursday.

Hamden’s Traffic Department will be replacing the traffic cabinet at the intersection of Whitney Avenue and School Street on Thursday, Aug. 21, according to a news release from the mayor’s office.

The work will begin at 8 a.m. and is expected to last approximately five to eight hours.

Officials said the maintenance will affect traffic flow in the area, and live updates will be posted on Waze.

“During this time, the intersection will temporarily operate as a four-way stop,” officials wrote in the news release. “Temporary stop signs will be placed at all four approaches to the intersection. A Hamden Police Officer will be on-site to assist with directing both vehicular traffic and pedestrian crossings.

“Motorists should anticipate minor delays when traveling through the area. We understand this may cause a brief inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to upgrade our traffic infrastructure.”
