Gas Odor Leads To Temporary Road Closures In Hamden: Police

The odor of gas while police were responding to a call led to temporary road closures in Hamden on Tuesday, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — The odor of gas while police were responding to a call led to temporary road closures in Hamden on Tuesday, according to police.

Police responded to a Woodin Street address on a call for assistance from the Hamden Fire Department, who were there on a medical call, according to Lt. Raymond Quinn.

Quinn said arriving officers weren’t able to contact the residents of the address.

“Responding officers smelled a slight odor of natural gas,” Quinn wrote in a news release. “As a result, the surrounding streets were temporarily closed off and a perimeter was established around the residence.

“Once contact was established with the residents, the incident was determined to be of a medical nature. The odor of natural gas was determined to be an outdoor propane tank.”
