Hamden Election Results 2023: Garrett Wins, Vote Totals For Every Race

HAMDEN, CT — Incumbent Democratic Mayor Lauren Garrett won re-election to a second term, defeating Republican challenger Crystal Daily in Tuesday’s municipal election.

Garrett received 6,536 votes, while Dailey had 5,042, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of the State’s Office.

Incumbent Democratic Town Clerk Karimah Mickens also won re-election, along with fellow Democrats Katie Kiely, Tasha Hunt, Laurie Sweet, and Dominique Baez as At-Large Legislative Council candidates.

Republicans Thomas Figlar and Bob Anthony also won the required minority seats as At-Large Legislative Council candidates.

In district races, Democrats Sean Cardwell (1st District), Jeron Alston (2nd District), Abdul Osmanu (3rd District), Sarah Gallagher (4th District), Rhonda Caldwell (5th District), Paula Irvin (6th District), Adrian Webber (7th District), and Ted Stevens (8th District) all won their races.

Republican Jim Anthony defeated Democrat Barbara Gorham-Walker in the 9th District race by a vote of 884 to 727.

In the Board of Education races, Democrats Peter Downhour, Greta Johnson and Republican Mario Ciccarini won four-year terms. Democrat Christopher Piscitelli won a two-year term.

“I am so honored to serve as Mayor of Hamden for another term,” Garrett said in a statement. “We have gotten so much accomplished in the last 2 years and we have so much more to do. Thank you to all of the amazing candidates on Row A and congratulations to all of the candidates on the ballot that were elected. Hamden is lucky to have Karimah Mickens serving another term as Town Clerk and I am so excited to be working with our returning and new additions to the Legislative Council. Thank you to the voters of Hamden and to all of our volunteers, led by my campaign manager, Hailey Collins for making this happen. Now it’s back to work!”
