Two men are being recognized for stopping their car and chasing away a woman's assailant after she had been attacked in broad daylight.

HAMDEN, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Ann M. Altman, who nominated Rob Malavasi and Nick Vermiglio of Hamden.

How do you know the local heroes?
The two young men stopped their car on Whitney Avenue when I was being attacked and chased off my assailant.
What do the local heroes do?
I have no idea
Why do you believe the local heroes should be recognized or honored?
I had been attacked on Whitney Avenue, in broad daylight. I was on the ground and my assailant had pulled my pants down. The two young men, without a second thought, stopped their car, and one of them jumped out and chased my attacker away. They then waited for the police and gave a full description that allowed my attacker to be arrested. He has been jailed for two years.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
They stopped to help without thinking of their own safety.
Thank you for all you do, Rob Malavasi and Nick Vermiglio!
