Hamden Plans Pedestrian, Bicycle Improvements In Project
With a combination of federal and town funds, Hamden is planning to construct pedestrian and bicycle improvements in several areas in town.

HAMDEN, CT – With a combination of Federal and Town funds, the Town of Hamden is planning to construct pedestrian and bicycle improvements on Augur Street between Newhall Street and Frederick Street, Benham Street between Dunbar Hill Road and Dixwell Avenue, Davis Street from Hartford Turnpike to Ridge Road, and Treadwell Street between Dixwell Avenue and Whitney Avenue.

As part of the design of the sidewalk on the south side of Davis Street, the Town will acquire easements from the City of New Haven from the fringe of the East Rock Park property for the construction of retaining walls to make space for the new sidewalk.
The total cost of construction is anticipated to be $3,5552,100, and the Town will provide 20% of the total cost with local funds.

Current schedules for the project anticipate design to be completed in Fall, 2025, and construction is expected to be completed in Spring 2026.
It is the Town's and the State's policy to keep persons informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.

Anyone interested in submitting a comment or requesting additional information regarding the work on park property by this project should contact, Mr. White at their earliest convenience. Comments regarding the easement acquisitions can be made up until December 20, 2024.
