A hidden gem in the City of New Haven is the Marsh Botanical Garden at 265 Mansfield St (near Science Park). The curator is Kunso Kim, a very knowledge person, who recently gave members of the Spring Glen Garden Club a tour of the garden, where there are many wonderful and exotic flowers, shrubs, and trees. There are also greenhouses to explore and a hidden Koi Pond. Under reconstruction is a garden designed by the first female Landscape architect Beatrice Ferrand.
The garden is open to the public, Mon-Fri 8-4. There is a small parking lot and parking is available on the street. Mr. Kim recommends visiting the garden in all seasons, because there is always something new to behold on its 8 acres. Check out its website and menu. There is a wonderful section on exploring the gardens and interesting facts about the garden’s various collections. There is even a little stream in its wetlands section. There are benches and tables so you can sit and enjoy the scenery and scents of the garden.
