Lane Closures Announced For Trick-Or-Treating In Hamden: Police

Police will have extra patrols, along with crossing guards at various locations, for pedestrian safety during trick-or-treating in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — Police have announced lane closures that will be in effect Thursday night for trick-or-treating in Hamden.

“In anticipation of increased pedestrian activity, the Hamden Police Department has added additional uniformed Police Officers in motor patrols with marked police cars and motorcycles as well as bicycle patrols,” police wrote in a news release. “The Hamden CERT Team and Hamden Crossing Guards will also be assisting at various locations around town to help with traffic calming and to assist pedestrian crossings.

“Also, Hamden Police Officers will be in the parking lot of 1842 Whitney Ave. in Hamden from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. distributing safety glow sticks for children.”

Police announced the following traffic control measures for Halloween night on Oct. 31.

  • Whitney Avenue southbound from Thornton Street to Ardmore Street will be reduced to one lane.
  • Whitney Ave. northbound from Ardmore Street to Wakefield Street will be reduced to one lane.

“The Hamden Police Department would like to remind the public that there will be increased pedestrian activity on Halloween and to expect small children to be a part of this activity,” police wrote. “Please drive carefully and watch for pedestrians.”
