Hamden, CT — Back-to-school season brings a mix of excitement and nerves — for students, parents and staff alike. Thankfully, Hamden is home to everyday school heroes who help make the transition smoother and the school year a little brighter.

Please describe why this individual is a hero at your school.

Kathy is our school clerk and she spends all summer preparing for the new school year in August. She makes sure that parents fill out registration forms, meticulously goes through bus routes, orders supplies for teachers, and does a thousand other things to make the opening day of school run smoothly. She does all this with patience and a sense of humor.

How do you know the school hero you’re nominating?

I am the school’s principal.

Kathy has been a Hamden Public School employee for many years. She has been at Dunbar Hill for over a decade.
