Ms. President US convened a statewide Zoom meeting to kick off 2025, bringing together five Connecticut chapters for an in-depth exploration of civic engagement and governance.
The event began on a powerful note with a quote from renowned primatologist and environmentalist Jane Goodall: “What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” This sentiment set the tone for the discussions, emphasizing the role each individual plays in shaping the participant’s community and the broader world. More than 50 participants shared accounts of individuals who have positively influenced their lives, including mentors, teachers, and family members.
A key part of the meeting focused on civic engagement and practical ways to get involved. Topics included organizing community initiatives and advocating for specific causes. Breakout sessions allowed participants to work in smaller groups, where they discussed real-world examples of civic participation and developed action plans for their own communities. The session also included an explanation of the roles and responsibilities of local, state, and federal governments. Participants discussed how local government decisions directly affect community life, such as educational policies. The conversation then shifted to state government, examining its broader responsibilities. Finally, the discussion covered the federal government’s role in creating national policies.
The Ms. President US Signature Campaign and Election event will take place on April 6th in Wilton, CT. Ms. President US candidates will present their inspiring platforms, and attendees will vote for Ms. President US of 12 CT towns. The event is free and open to the public.
