New Trader Joe’s Store Coming To Hamden: Report

The popular national grocery chain is opening a new store in Hamden, according to a report.

HAMDEN, CT — A Trader Joe’s grocery store is coming to the former LA Fitness building on Skiff Street in Hamden, according to the Connecticut Scoop.

The Connecticut Scoop reports the new Trader Joe’s will occupy 12,500 square feet of space at the former LA Fitness building at 46 Skiff Street in Hamden.

Mayor Lauren Garrett shared the Connecticut Scoop’s post on Facebook, writing, “Trader Joe’s is coming to Hamden!”

The New Haven Register previously reported on a “mystery” store that was being proposed at the property.

The New Haven Register reports that a portion of the former gym space will be a Trader Joe's while the remainder will be occupied by as of now unnamed tenants.

Renovations to the building are projected to cost nearly $800,000, according to the Register.

Trader Joe's has current locations in Glastonbury, Manchester, West Hartford, Stamford, Orange, Fairfield, Danbury, Westport, and Darien. The company's website also lists Shelton too.
