Obituary: Raymond Lawrence Farrell, Jr., 86 of Hamden
Ray worked as a freight rate manager for the railroad and for the Knights of Columbus in New Haven for many years.
HAMDEN, CT - (From Washington Memorial Funeral Home) Raymond Lawrence Farrell, Jr., 86 of Hamden died peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 8, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of sixty four years to Marcia Petrelli Farrell.
Ray was born in West Haven on January 18, 1935, a son of the late Raymond L. and Catherine Sullivan Farrell, Sr., and had resided in Hamden for the past sixty one years.
He was a Freight Rate Manager for the former New Haven, New York, Hartford Railroad for fifteen years, and later worked for the Knights of Columbus in New Haven for fifteen years, retiring in 2000.
Shortly after, Marcia retired, and they were able to travel to many destinations, and celebrated their 50th anniversary in Oahu, Hawaii.
In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by a daughter, Annmarie Giangarra and her husband Mark of North Haven, a son, Raymond L. Farrell, III of Nashville, TN, one sister, Judy González and her husband Euesebio of North Ft. Meyers, FL, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Joyce Higgins and Loretta DeFrank, one brother, Ronald W. Farrell, and nephews Robert DeFrank and Michael González.
Ray’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
