Quinnipiac University to host acclaimed author Santiago Jose Sanchez for reading and Q&A on Oct. 14

HAMDEN – Quinnipiac University will welcome queer Colombian American writer and educator Santiago Jose Sanchez for a reading and question-and-answer session on Tuesday, Oct. 14, in celebration of Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month and LGBTQ+ History Month at the university.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in Room 119 of the Carl Hansen Student Center on the Mount Carmel Campus, 275 Mount Carmel Ave.

Sanchez is the author of “Hombrecito,” a critically acclaimed debut novel that was a finalist for the New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Award and named a Best Book of the Year by NPR, Debutiful and Kirkus Reviews.

The program will feature a reading from “Hombrecito,” followed by a Q&A session and book signing.
Bessie Flores Zaldivar, assistant teaching professor of English at Quinnipiac, will introduce Sanchez.
“Both our advanced and introduction to fiction students have been reading Sanchez’s debut novel, ‘Hombrecito,’ this month,” Zaldivar said. “The students are so excited to meet the author of this beautiful work that has been at the center of meaningful class discussions.”
