Spring into Journalism: How to Navigate the Changing World of Media

Quinnipiac University will host the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists on March 25 to discuss the changes in media.

From QU: Quinnipiac University will host the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists event, “Spring into Journalism: How to Navigate the Changing World of Media,” from noon-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, in the Center for Communications and Engineering on the Mount Carmel Campus, 275 Mount Carmel Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature a panel of journalists from ESPN, NBC 10, WBZ CBS Boston and WQUN-AM 1220 who will discuss the changing landscape of media in regards to social media, exclusive interviews and “fake news.” Following the discussion, the panel will offer career advice and resume and film reel critiques. Food and drinks will be provided.

“We are very excited about holding our student workshop at Quinnipiac University this year," said Michael Lyle, vice president of SNEABJ and a broadcaster at WQUN. "In a society that has suddenly become obsessed with ‘fake news,’ our chapter is training the next generation of journalists to tell the stories the public has and demands to know about. We anticipate a lively discussion on that topic and several others."
