Road Closure Lifted, Parking Ban Modified In Hamden

Officials are advising residents of traffic updates in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — Town officials are advising residents of the following information regarding the demolition of the former Spring Glen Hardware & Appliance store building on Whitney Avenue in Hamden.

Road Closure:

The southbound lane of Whitney Avenue between Hawthorne Avenue and Central Avenue has reopened.

Additionally, Hawthorne Avenue between Gordon Street and Whitney Avenue will also reopen.

Parking Ban:

The parking ban issued at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 has been modified.

Town officials have proclaimed a parking ban effective immediately along the South Side of Hawthorne Ave along 1666 Whitney Ave., and along the West side of Whitney Ave in front of 1666 Whitney Ave. and 1660 Whitney Ave, while work is being performed at the site. The parking ban will remain in effect until further notice. A separate announcement will be issued when the parking ban is lifted.

The ban is being proclaimed pursuant to Section 70.34 (13) of the Code of the Town of Hamden. As per this section, no person shall park or allow to remain parked, any motor vehicle on any portion of any highway to which it applies.
