Special Olympics to Host Unified Sports® Holiday Classic
The event, presented by the Connecticut Elks Association, will take place this weekend, November 18th & 19th

Special Olympics Connecticut will hold its annual Unified Sports® Holiday Classic, presented by the Connecticut Elks Association, on Saturday, November 18th and Sunday, November 19th. Forty Unified Sports® basketball teams, 14 volleyball teams, 38 powerlifters and close to 1,300 bowlers are expected to compete at the event. Sports and locations will include bowling at Bowlero Lanes, 1717 Boston Post Road, Milford and AMF Circle Lanes, 525 Main Street, East Haven - both days, Unified Sports® basketball at Quinnipiac University, 275 Mount Carmel Avenue in Hamden - both days, powerlifting at Gleason Performance Training at 38 Commerce Street in Derby on Saturday and Unified Sports® volleyball at 255 Skiff Street in Hamden Hall Beckerman Athletic Center in Hamden on Saturday.
The Special Olympics Unified Sports® program brings people with and without intellectual disabilities together on the same team to promote acceptance, opportunity and inclusion for all.

Through its Healthy Athletes® program, Special Olympics Connecticut will also offer Special Smiles, which provides free dental screenings to athletes, at its volleyball venue on Saturday and basketball venue on Sunday and Strong Minds, activities that promote positive thinking, stress release and connecting with others, at basketball on both days.
