Stratford Man Charged with Stealing Car
He rented a car from Rent-a-Wreck and allegedly never returned it, according to police.

A Stratford man was arrested Thursday on charges he rented a car and never returned it.
Thomas Sanders, 37, of140 Walnut St., Stratford, was picked up on a warrant charging first-degree larceny. He was appearing in Meriden Superior Court on unrelated charges, Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said.

Police got a report of the theft of a motor vehicle from Rent-A-Wreck at 1091 Dixwell Ave. on Dec. 3, Smith said. Officials there said Sanders had rented a 2010 Dodge for two days but never returned the car, Smith said.
On Dec. 9, New Haven Police pulled over Sanders, who was driving the Dodge, Smith said. New Haven Police arrested him on two outstanding warrants, Smith said.

On Thursday Hamden Police served its warrant on Sanders for the stolen vehicle charge. He was held in lieu of $50,000 bond, Smith said.
Officer Joseph Liguori conducted the investigation, Smith said.
