Thanksgiving Holiday Announcements In Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — Town officials are reminding residents and staff of the following holiday information.

Wednesday, Nov. 26: Non-essential Town offices and buildings, including Government Center, Keefe Community Center and the Senior Center, will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26. All Hamden Public Library buildings will be open modified hours from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26. The Hamden Transfer Station will be open during their regularly scheduled hours, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Thursday, Nov. 27: Town offices and buildings, including Government Center, Keefe Community Center, the Senior Center, all Hamden Public Library buildings, and the Hamden Transfer Station, will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 in observance of Thanksgiving Day. The library’s digital branch is available 24/7.

Friday, Nov. 28: The Hamden Transfer Station will be closed Friday, Nov. 28. The Recreation Office, the Brundage Community Library Branch and the Whitneyville Library Branch will be closed Friday, Nov. 28 and will remain closed through Sunday, Nov. 30. All other Town offices and buildings, including Miller Memorial Library, will reopen Friday, Nov. 28 at their regularly scheduled hours.

Saturday, Nov. 29: Miller Memorial Library will be open on Saturday, Nov. 29 during their regularly scheduled hours, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Hamden Transfer Station will be open on Saturday, Nov. 29 from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Trash and Recycling Pick-Up Delay:

Trash and recycling pick-up for Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28 will be delayed by one day due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday. The pickup normally scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 27 will occur on Friday, Nov. 28 and so forth, culminating in Friday's pickup taking place on Saturday.

Sunday, Nov. 30: The 2025 Town of Hamden Inauguration of Elected Officials will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025 at 12 noon in the Hamden Middle School Veterans Memorial Auditorium, located at 2623 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden. The inauguration is open to the public and tickets are not needed. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and guests are encouraged to arrive early for first-come, first-served seating.
