Two Hamden Women Charged in Attempted Theft

Two Hamden woman are facing charges that they tried to steal items from a Hamden business this week.

Last Monday afternoon police got a report of a larceny at Jane's Beauty Supply at 940 Dixwell Ave., according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Officers learned that the two people, identified as Shandrika Jackson and Monica Allen, entered the store and attempted to steal 12 jars of hair gel, Smith said.

"An employee subsequently confronted the individuals as they were leaving the store. He was then struck in the head and pushed by the two women," Smith said in a release on the incident.

A short time later, Officers Derick Manning and Matthew Barbuto found Jackson and Allen in the area of 306 Pine Rock Ave., Smith said, where they were arrested.

Both Jackson, 41, of 306 Pine Rock Avenue, Apt. D12, Hamden and Allen, 44, of 325 Goodrich Street, Hamden, were charged with criminal attempt to commit second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Jackson posted $10,000 bond and Allen was held in lieu of $10,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on April 22.
