Driver Plunged Into Lake To Avoid Deer: Hamden Police
The driver told police that he swerved to avoid a deer and drove into the water, according to officials.
HAMDEN, CT — A Jeep plunged into Lake Whitney early Wednesday morning after the driver told police that he swerved to avoid a deer, according to officials.
Police responded to the 300 block of Mather Street on the report of a 2013 black Jeep that was off the road and into Lake Whitney, according to Lt. Raymond Quinn.
Quinn said the driver told police that he swerved to avoid a deer and drove into the water. The driver wasn’t injured and was able to remove himself from the vehicle without aid, according to Quinn.

The driver was taken to the hospital for an evaluation due to the frigid temperatures, Quinn said.
The Regional Water Authority was notified and responded to the scene.
