LEDYARD, CT — A driver injured in a crash Saturday night was flown to an area hospital, according to the Gales Ferry Volunteer Fire Company.

"Ledyard and Gales Ferry members went to work stabilizing the vehicle using chains, a grip hoist, and rescue struts due to the vehicle’s precarious position which then allowed additional crews to gain patient access and remove the roof and windshield for extrication," the fire company wrote.

The injured person was taken by paramedics to a landing zone, then transported by LifeStar helicopter to an area trauma center.
