Obituary: Jamie E. Davis, 87, Of Gales Ferry
He was an avid sailor and was a member of the Shennecossett Yacht Club in Groton.

Jamie E. Davis, 87, of Gales Ferry died Thursday evening March 29 at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born January 26, 1931 to Herman Lee Davis and Sarah Leora Galloway Davis in Plainview, Texas.
He married Joan Schmidt Davis on September 10, 1955. She survives him.

Jamie was a mechanical engineer and employed at Sperry Gyroscope Company. He was an avid sailor and was a member of the Shennecossett Yacht Club in Groton.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan. Daughters: Catherine (Anthony) Gazikas, Cheryl (Carl) Anderson, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Noble. Sons: Steven Davis, Scott (Susan) Davis and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Byles Groton Memorial Home (310 Thames Street, Groton). Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Lutheran Church (1830 CT-12, Gales Ferry). Interment will be at the Avery Stoddard Cemetery in Ledyard.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Jamie’s memory to Child and Family Agency Inc. (591 Poquonnock Road, Groton, CT 06340) and St. Luke Lutheran Church.
