Spent Shell Casing Found At Ledyard School; Police Called: Report

LEDYARD, CT — Police were called to Ledyard Middle School on Tuesday after the discovery of a spent shell casing which had fallen from a student's backpack, according to The New London Day. The student had four casings in his backpack for more than a month, having found them at a local sandpit used for riding bikes and go-carts.

Police said there was no malicious intent and no danger to students or school personnel, according to The New London Day. School officials said that once found at around 1 p.m., the shell casing was immediately reported and turned in to a teacher.
