 Vista’s A Shared Stage Productions is thrilled to partner once again with The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (The Kate) to present the 2026 musical production of The Wedding Singer.&nbsp;This year marks A Shared Stage Productions’ 11th all-abilities musical, featuring a unified cast and crew composed of both Vista students and members, as well as community participants. The production will run from Friday May 15 through Sunday May 17, 2026, at The Kate in Old Saybrook, under the direction of Neil Fuentes. Auditions for Cast, Vocalist, and Dancers A Shared Stage Productions&nbsp;invites versatile performers ages 15 and older to audition for The Wedding Singer!&nbsp;

 Neil Fuentes, affectionately known as “The Singing Chef,” is a vibrant multi-hyphenate entertainer, educator, and community leader with roots in Caracas, Venezuela. He grew up captivated by the artistry and pageantry of Miss Venezuela, which inspired his lifelong passion for performance. In 1995, Neil emigrated to the United States, starting his career in the restaurant industry and eventually becoming the Special Events and Catering Director for SBC in Connecticut. Neil’s charisma and culinary talents took him to television, where he gained recognition as “The Singing Chef” on WTNH. He has appeared in national commercials and Food Network shows, blending his Venezuelan heritage with music, cooking, and storytelling. In 2014, Neil and his husband, Billy, co-founded the New Haven Academy of Performing Arts (NHAOPA), dedicated to nurturing artistic talent in Connecticut. The academy’s success led to the establishment of two additional ventures, the Broadway on Main Theatre Company and Cabaret on Main Theater. Together, these companies form the NHAOPA Group, which is committed to arts education and entertainment. A visionary creator, Neil continues to innovate through productions that blend humor, heart, and culture. From Halloween cabarets like The Sinister Symphony to holiday concerts and unique community events, Neil strives to entertain while fostering an inclusive space for artists of all ages. Neil’s journey is a testament to his belief in the transformative power of the arts. The Women's Club of Madison announces the launch of a “Cash Only Food Drive” to collect donations for the Pauline Baldwin Food Pantry in Madison. Funds raised will be donated to help the purchase meats and other essential items for their freezer, which need to be replenished after the holidays.
The Food Pantry provides essential groceries to Madison residents, offering fresh produce, non-perishable items, and personal care products. Funded entirely through donations, the pantry is an all-volunteer organization, ensuring that every donation goes directly toward helping our neighbors. Currently, the pantry serves approximately 110 families per month.
According to pantry director Mary Hake, the contributions raised by this fundraising drive will allow the pantry to purchase frozen meat at discounted prices and improve their ability to provide nourishing food to clients.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Women’s Club Raising Funds for Madison Food Pantry

Madison Kindness Week will be back for a third year, from February 4th through the 14th, and will again highlight the activities that make Madison one of the kindest communities in the state! Kindness Week 2026 will also feature the immensely popular and quite delicious Madison Chocolate Festival on Saturday, February 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Madison Chocolate Festival will be held at the First Congregational Church at 26 Meetinghouse Lane (on the Green) and will again include: a café serving a delicious lunch and delectable chocolate desserts; a bake sale; cookie walk; silent auction; gift basket raffle; a kindness open-mic; live music and more.
“Sometimes the world doesn’t seem like a very kind place,” said Kindness Committee Member Carol Robbins. “But there is a lot of kindness going on in every community that most people don’t notice. The Kindness Committee is determined to put a spotlight on those many efforts so people can see them. And what better way to celebrate kindness and the community than with The Chocolate Festival!”
Also back this year is the Haikus from the Heart contest, where winners will be announced at the Chocolate Festival. Poet Laureate Ed Lent will review Haikus and choose the winners. Anyone can submit a Haiku for consideration at the Haiku poetry drop box at the Scranton Library.
 Madison Kindness Week kicks off on Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Scranton Library Lifelong Learning Room with a workshop on Kindness and Compassion in Relationships. The workshop, led by Drs. Mira Svatovic and Keri Marcovici, will provide actionable skills that will increase your ability to connect with yourself and others.&nbsp;Pre-Registration is required for this workshop and can be done on the Scranton website.


As was done with the last Chocolate Festival, all proceeds will go to the First Congregational Church Community Breakfast, which is served every Saturday morning, free of charge, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. All are welcome to join us for breakfast. The Madison breakfast is served in conjunction with the Shoreline Soup Kitchen &amp; Pantries, an interfaith service which provides five community pantry locations and nine community meal sites.
