Concord Meadows Senior Housing Without Power For 3 Days

Awarded a 2019 federal grant for energy upgrades, the 90-unit senior housing complex was without power for three days.

MADISON, CT — The landline just rings and email is apparently not being received, but according to loved ones who have posted on social media, and the Eversource outage map, Woodland Road senior housing complex Concord Meadows has been without power for three days.

Last September, the Madison Interfaith Residential Community-owned senior housing got a $1.5 million Community Development Block Grant award for upgrades including installation of new heat pump systems for improved and efficient heating and air conditioning in each unit and new energy star-rated windows to increase energy efficiency and envelope improvements for the newer phase of the development.

Friday evening, Lyons said that Concord Meadow was a target of Eversource restoration saying it suffered "significant damage."

Monday, Madison Interfaith Residential Community board chair Elaine Reitman said there was not damage to the facility.

"While the complex was without power until Friday evening, there was never any damage to equipment; no newly installed windows or heating units were damaged," she said. "The power outage was a significant threat to resident health and well-being but it did not affect the physical plant."
