Dinner with Award-Winning Cookbook Author Giuliano Hazan

Madison Beach Hotel Epicurean Series Continues

On Saturday, April 15, Madison Beach Hotel will host another exclusive culinary event, this time featuring a wine-paired five-course dinner with award-winning cookbook author and foremost authority on Italian cooking, Chef Giuliano Hazan.

Chef Hazan and his wife Lael offer week-long food and wine courses in Italy which Forbes named one of the top five foodie destinations in Italy. Hazan also teaches Italian cooking classes throughout the U.S. and at his school in Italy. He is the author of the best-selling cookbooks: Every Night Italian; The Classic Pasta Cookbook; How to Cook Italian; Thirty Minute Pasta; and Hazan Family Favorites.

Giuliano is the only son of renowned Chef Marcella Hazan, considered the Godmother of Italian Cooking. Through her six cookbooks and a lifetime of teaching, she preached a gospel of excellent ingredients, simplicity, and tradition. S0he lived a life of food, friends, and passion.

Though she passed away in 2013, her influence in the food world lives on through Giuliano and his passion for cooking and eating with family.

Madison’s own Jacques Pépin, French chef, author, culinary educator, television personality, and artist says, “I was a friend and great admirer of Marcella Hazan for her unique contributions to Italian cooking. I have known her son, Giuliano, a respected cooking teacher, for many years. His books are gold standard, especially The Classic Pasta Cookbook. I am looking forward to seeing him and enjoying his food on April 15.”

During the day, seasoned culinary educator Chef Hazan will offer a cooking demonstration on how to prepare his favorite halibut entrée. Pre-registration is required and limited to 20 guests. This daytime event is available to those who have purchased tickets to the dinner event.

That evening, Chef Hazan will prepare hors d'oeuvres and a multi-course plated dinner featuring his award winning recipes, including chilled tomato soup topped with goat cheese and diced cucumber; risotto with shrimp and zucchini; baked halibut topped with fresh tomato and red onion; and Sicilian orange tart.

"Food has an amazing ability to give pleasure,” said Chef Hazan. “It can give you wonderful pleasure and memories as it brings people together. It can define a whole era of time, a culture, a way of living."
