MADISON, Conn. – The Madison Newcomers Club is thrilled to announce Katie Anastasi as its new president for the 2025–2026 year. Open to all new residents of Madison, the club provides a welcoming space where individuals and families can build meaningful connections, support local businesses, and actively contribute to the community.

Since its founding in 1968, the Madison Newcomers Club has been a cornerstone for those new to town, offering a diverse range of monthly events, seasonal volunteer opportunities, and special interest groups—from family outings and hiking to book clubs and fitness groups. Members not only meet new people but also get involved in initiatives that make a real difference in the Madison community.

“The Madison Newcomers Club has been a huge part of my family’s transition to this community,” says Anastasi. “I’m excited to help newcomers feel the same sense of belonging and connection that we did. As president, I’m committed to continuing the tradition of building lasting relationships and supporting the vibrant local causes that make Madison such a special place.”

Originally from Minnesota, Anastasi relocated to Madison from Rhode Island shortly after getting married. Before stepping into the role of president, she served as the club’s Social Chair, organizing memorable events like Oktoberfest celebrations and family-focused summer socials. Through her leadership, she has helped shape an inclusive, welcoming environment for all members.

The club’s activities range from monthly social gatherings to volunteer-driven community projects. Members actively participate in a variety of local initiatives, including the Bauer Park Harvest Festival, Halloween Monster Mash at the Madison Arts Barn, and the annual Touch-A-Truck event, which raises scholarship funds for Daniel Hand High School students.

“Whether you’re new to Madison or simply looking to connect, the Newcomers Club offers something for everyone,” Anastasi adds. “I’m excited to welcome even more members this year and continue our tradition of supporting both new residents and our broader community.”

In addition to social events, the club collaborates with local businesses to provide new residents with welcome bags filled with local goodies and discounts. The club also organizes volunteer opportunities, where members can engage directly with Madison’s nonprofits to address community needs in education, health, and civic engagement.

Individuals and families who have moved to the area in the past seven years are invited to join the club and get involved. The first General Meeting of the 2025–2026 season will be held on September 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Madison Earth Care, located at 1250 Durham Road. This is a perfect opportunity for newcomers to learn about the club, meet other members, and start building connections.
