Madison 2024 Election Results: Democrats Cohen & Parker Lead Races
The polls have closed in Madison for the 2024 elections, and here are the latest updates on how local residents voted.

MADISON, CT — Shortly after the polls closed Tuesday night, vice President Kamala Harris was announced as the winner of Connecticut's seven electoral college votes, defeating former President Donald J. Trump and three other candidates, according to the Associated Press.
Also, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT, won re-election and a third term in Congress, according to projections. He defeated GOP challenger Matthew M. Corey and two other candidates.
As of 4 a.m., incumbent Democrat state Sen. Christine Cohen appeared to win re-election in the 12th District, and incumbent Democratic state Rep. John-Michael Parker, also appeared to hold the edge in his race in 101st District, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of State's office.

Connecticut voters approved the ballot question that will allow no-excuse absentee voting, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of State’s office.
The unofficial tally for the ballot question was 619,337 in favor to 491,588 against, as of 4 a.m.

Votes are still being counted in other key races, including the U.S. House of Representatives, and the state General Assembly races.

Original story: MADISON, CT — The polls have closed, and now we wait for the results to come in through the night and likely into Wednesday morning for several key races.
All eyes, of course, are on the presidential race between main party candidates vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald J. Trump Beyond the presidential race, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT, is seeking reelection to a new six-year term and is being challenged by Matthew M. Corey, Justin C. Paglino, and Robert Finley Hyde.
Residents also voted for their local representative in the U.S. Congress, and their local state representative and senators in the General Assembly in Hartford.
Tuesday night's vote totals will also determine whether Connecticut will allow each person to vote by absentee ballot in future elections.

For President, the candidates are: Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, Democrat; Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance, Republican; Jill Stein and Butch Ware, Green Party; Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat, Libertarian; and Robert Kennedy Jr. and Nicole Shanahan, Petitioning candidate.
For United States Senate, the candidates are: Christopher S. Murphy, Democrat, and Matthew M. Corey, Republican. Murphy is also endorsed by the Working Families Party. Other candidates include: Justin C. Paglino, Green Party, and Robert Finley Hyde, Cheaper Gas Groceries Party.
For U.S. Congress in the 2nd District, the candidates are: Joe Courtney, Democrat, versus Mike France, Republican.
For state senate in the 12th Senatorial District, the candidates are: Christine Cohen, Democrat, versus Paul Crisci, Republican. Cohen is also endorsed by the Working Families and Independent parties.
For state representative in the 101th District, the candidates are: John-Michael Parker, Democrat, versus Lisa Deane, Republican. Parker is also endorsed by the Working Families and Independent parties.
For Registrar of Voters, the candidates are: Jim Newton, Democrat, versus Gregory Scalzo III, Republican.
