Madison Issues Storm Alert Wednesday
Wind gusts by the coast could reach 75 mph Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.

Information from the Town of Madison:
MADISON, CT — Please be advised that a high wind warning has been issued for our area with wind gusts expected later today to range from 65 – 75 MPH along the coast and 55 – 65 MPH inland. The highest gusts are forecast to occur between 3:00 and 8:00 p.m. today. In addition, heavy rainfall is expected to fall across the state throughout the day Wednesday and into the evening, with total rainfall expected to range from 2” – 4” inches across the state, and up to 5” inches in eastern Connecticut. If the showers rain over the same area repeatedly, more significant flooding may occur. In addition, coastal flooding may occur due to excessive winds combined with high tide around 7:20 p.m. this evening in Madison.
All residents should be preparing for this storm event, including securing loose items outside such as holiday decorations that might be thrown around by wind or rain, preparing for possible flooding in roadways and neighborhoods, and preparing for possible power outages. In the event of power outages, be sure to run generators outdoors and away from windows and doors.
The Town Emergency Operations Team is making storm preparations and coordinating with Eversource for possible power outages.
