Madison PD Issues Warning After Driver Pulled Over For Speeding

Police said the driver was traveling "more than double the speed limit."

MADISON, CT — After Madison police pulled over a driver Friday, who was traveling 97 mile per hour, the department issued a warning to motorists to slow down.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours, while the driver was traveling in a 45 mph zone.

"This is more than double the speed limit and creates an extremely dangerous situation for everyone who uses our roadways," authorities posted on Facebook (see below). "We are asking all drivers to please slow down."

When drivers speed, it puts their lives, and the lives of others, at risk, officials said.

"Our officers are out there every day working to keep our community safe, but we need your help too," authorities said. "Thank you for doing your part to keep Madison safe."
